Söderberg, ThereseI huvudet på Alfhild Agrell

Year of writing: 2019
Female: 3, male: 2

Alfhild Agrell was a contemporary of Strindberg and Ibsen, but despite the fierce competition, she was the most performed playwright at the Royal Theatre in Stockholm in the early 1880s writing about the woman’s emancipation and the right to be master of one’s own life. INSIDE THE HEAD OF ALFHILD AGRELL flickers between dream and reality, showing an aging Alfhild living in a care home meeting key figures from her life mixed with fragments from her works. The play is a portrait of a woman with an unstoppable motivation for writing and succeeding despite harsh criticism and challenges being a woman in a man’s world.
