MansikkapaikkaStrawberry Fields
Finnish student Ville has been admitted to a psychiatric clinic in a foreign country. At the same time, a serious case of exploitation of foreign berry pickers has been uncovered on a wild berry farm in central Finland. Ville's police sister Alina begins investigating the scandal, which also threatens to tarnish the reputation of Keijo, the strawberry farm owner and Ville and Alina's father. Things get complicated when no one seems to know where Ville is. Alina begins to investigate her brother's disappearance.
Keijo is convinced that his company has done nothing wrong. However, something feels very wrong. Maybe his own country is not a strawberry farm? Maybe the reasons for the setbacks are closer than Keijo or Alina can see?
Written by Sofi Oksanen, Strawberry Fields focuses on the shockingly deep chasm that has divided the world into two hostile camps. The dark forces of the globalized world are not just operating in some vague distance, but among us. And the stakes in this game are fundamental values ‒ freedom and human rights.
