The starting point of the play is a fragment of reality, represented by a family consisting only of women. A grandmother, a mother and a daughter. The play is told from the perspective of the daughter, Martina. She is going through a transition in her life from youth to adulthood. On the one hand, she believes that the future is waiting around the corner, simultaneously frightening and enchanting. On the other hand, it is not easy to let go of the umbilical cord-like bond that holds the family together with the women of the previous generation and the burden that comes with it.

Martina tries to take control of her life and imagine her life without the unspoken family trauma, which she would not be able to deal with with her mother and grandmother. Martina uses her imagination to help her and looks at herself and her family from the side by developing a side character, 'Marina'. However, the Friend enters the picture with her own experiences of being an outsider in her own family background and finds closeness in the older women of Martina's family. On the one hand, the Friend brings a much-needed new perspective to the cramped family situation, and on the other hand, she takes over the stage. Who is in control of the situation here? Who gets what role? And how do we position ourselves the next time a family portrait is taken?
